Florida ranks 5th highest in the nation for its job growth prospects in 2014, according to a report released by the Pew Charitable Trusts. Pew used data from Moody's analytics to evaluate employment factors in each state. Leading the nation for the second year in a row is North Dakota, slated to experience a 3.6 percent growth in jobs this year. North Dakota is followed by Arizona at 3.06 percent, Texas at 2.75 percent, Colorado at 2.67 percent, and Florida at 2.34 percent.
In Florida, this projection equates to the creation of 176,423 jobs - the third highest total number in the nation. According to Moody's data, the cities of Deltona and Cape Coral show the greatest promise in job growth for the year. Job growth in Florida's cement and construction jobs are expected to flourish. D.C. has the smallest expected jobs growth rate for 2014, at 0.75 percent, followed by Illinois at 0.98 percent and Maine at 1.02 percent.
